Outstanding dentist. Fantastic staff. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Karkalas for at least 5 years now and have received everything from a simple filling, crown, to a fitted nightguard. She works collaboratively with the top-notch endodontists and periodontists to devise the best treatment plan for your needs. I saw her through the height of the pandemic and was impressed with the measures they took to keep everyone safe and protected. I wouldn’t think of seeing anyone else.

Dr. Karkalas is a new dentist for me as of only three weeks ago, and I have been extremely pleased. She is obviously very experienced, competent, and personable. Dentistry is not easy for me due to past bad experiences, but I feel comfortable and at ease with Dr. Karkalas. She appropriately diagnosed my need for a molar root canal for the last tooth under a crown for a fixed bridge, and sent me to a wonderful endodontist, who performed her root canal through the crown. I returned to Dr. Karkalas two days ago to have the tooth permanently closed, and so far all is well. I need to also mention that all of Dr. Karkalas’ staff that I have met so far are also wonderful. That includes Paula, Mary, and Dave. Mary went out of her way to get me into the endodontist quickly due to my pain and infection. I highly recommend Dr. Karkalas.
I've tried a few dentist office's looking for the "perfect" one as my childhood dentist office had closed and I would definitely say this one is the most personable and friendly of all of them! It always feels like they genuinely want to understand you as a patient and are willing to talk about procedures pros and cons so you can make good decisions about your dental health. They make a "health chore" (as I like to call it) less of one. I highly recommend this dentist office!

Things have changed quite a bit since COVID-19, but Dr. Karkalas' office and staff took everything seriously, putting the health and safety of others and themselves first. They take the necessary precautions while making you feel comfortable and at ease. My family switched to this office after living in RI for a few years and we are so glad we did. I have had several crowns and cavities over the years (fun, fun) and recently broke a tooth resulting in another crown. I have never had such an easy, painless, and quick experience as I did in Dr. K's office. The crown match was impeccable. I am not a fan of going to the dentist and dread it, but from the insightful conversations with the hygienist to the kind and caring office staff and dental assistant, you are made to feel at home and welcome. I can truly say, for the first time in my life, I don't think I will mind returning for my next check-up. Thank you to everyone!

I had a great experience here. I had an old cap/crown pop off unexpectedly at work, and I called them freaking out -- having never been a patient of theirs. They saw me within the hour and got me all put back together calmly and competently. I did a cleaning and got a mouthguard here. Both of my experiences have been wonderful. For my cleaning, my hygienist gave me a lot of fun facts while she cleaned my teeth, keeping it from being boring. For my mouthguard, it didn't fit the first time but it was redone and gotten back to me in little time!

Quick response, excellent workWhen I had a sudden problem-- a veneer popped while I was eating lunch-- David was able to hustle me into the office and Lena was able to slip me into the schedule so that before I had to teach my class, hours after I lost the veneer, my problem was solved and I could speak before a class without looking like a horse had kicked me in the teeth. Dave at the front desk recognized my agonizing discomfort and went to extraordinary lengths to coordinate my extractions as soon as possible. Dr. Karkalas and Paula made me feel comfortable as they took new xrays and confirmed my diagnosis. Dr. Karkalas developed a solid care plan for me, and I am following it to the letter. I also took comfort in the genuine care and concern everyone showed me. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Karkalas and her practice.

I don't recommend Dr. Karkalas. I found her to always be unfriendly towards me and would leave the room at the end of a procedure without saying anything. Her bonding didn't come close to matching and in response I was scolded for not whitening. Her recommendation was to get a crown for a tooth that just needed the correct shade of bonding. She recommended a crown on another tooth that my insurance didn't agree needed it based on the xrays. The only good experience was with Kelly the dental hygienist and Paula the dental assistant.

This is my second time have Botox injections with Dr. Karkalas. She is superb! No bruising, bleeding or swelling. I just went in for my consultation this morning. I knew going in that I am in need of some extensive work due to neglect of dental upkeep over many years. Everyone was so pleasant and Dr. Karkalas was so thorough in her explanations which made me feel more at ease knowing she knew her information.I'm due to give birth any week now and she chose to delay my x-rays out of care for the baby's health. What a beautiful gesture proving it's not about the $ but about the patient's care.They even gave me a printed out game plan so I know exactly what to expect. They don't take my particular health insurance and are willing to help work with my insurance company to assist where possible with reimbursement.So far, this has been a very delightful experience and I'm looking forward to my next appointment after baby comes.Thank you, Dr. Karkalas and staff!See you next year

A crown on my molar fell off while I was eating, and I was able to contact Dr. Karkalas at her emergency number. She saw me the next working day and re-cemented the crown without any problem. It was great to have my dental issue solved so quickly and easily!

I learned more about how to brush my teeth during the cleaning than I ever have before. Dr. Karkalas is friendly and is not pushy about cosmetic procedures. Everyone in the office is welcoming and organized.

I finally decided to get ZOOM whitening after debating for a couple years - I have sensitive teeth & was very worried about the possible pain, etc. The staff were all very considerate of my feelings and made sure I was comfortable at all times. It was the first dental clinic since we moved to Providence.The first impression of their atmosphere was calm, comfortable, and friendly.They treated us very gentle and personally. And they made an appoinment and managed that very seriously so that we did not need to wait to see a doctor. We only waited for about 5minutes discussing about our dental insurance and the process of treatment, which was niccessary.Dr. Karkalas gave me a good and professional treatmet and explained what she did for me very kindly.Furthermore, the clinic is very close to Brown University where my husband is working so we can reach there easily.
Dr Karkalas was so good with my 5 yr old son-I was so impressed!! He can be tough but she was able to keep him calm and explain what she was going to do step by step while filing a cavity. The silly terms she used really made him listen and relax a little.

When I was little, I went to another dentist and they made me scared to go. So my mom brought me to Dr. Karkalas. Today I love the dentist. (I am 9 years old.) Dave is very nice to me. He showed me how to do yo-yo tricks with the yo-yo I got from the treasure box.
Okay, love may be a bit strong here. Yet, if it is possible to enjoy a dental experience, this would be the place to do so. Plenty of TLC and professionalism. Love you guys!

It had been a while since I had been to a dentist, and I have never liked going to the dentist, so I was a little nervous. But everyone was so nice and not at all judgmental that I'd fallen behind in my dental care. I really appreciated it!
Dr Karkalas has been wonderful helping me keep a healthy smile. The office is friendly and professional.
Another excellent visit. I overslept and missed my original appointment. When I called to explain, they fit me in early the following week. I should have paid a $25 dollar fee for missing my appointment, but when I asked about it the response was, "That's your freebie," followed by an awesome smile. I was grateful. The young woman in the waiting room had her little brother in tow. The front desk manager (whose name is escaping me) started asking her questions about her family, saying that she had grown so much. "I'm in college now," the woman boasted. The front desk manager got up, grabbed a teddy bear and gave it to the boy. I smiled at the thought that families have been going to that dentist's office for a long time. I'm a relatively new patient. Every member of the team greeted me with a smile and a question about my morning or about my work. I felt extremely comfortable getting in the chair- something that caused me tremendous anxiety at every other dentist's office before Dr. Karkalas's office. The only suggestion I would make is to add the names of the office manager, assistants and dental hygienists either on the Google contact or Facebook. I would have liked to refer to them by name in this review, but I had no luck finding their names.

My son had two of his front teeth replaced by Dr. Karkalas after an accident a little over a year ago. Yesterday, one of the new teeth was broken during a wrestling match. I called the emergency line, and Dr. Karkalas and her technician came in on their day off to fix the problem. Her level of expertise is amazing. Her commitment to customer service is impeccable. This rare combination earns my highest recommendation. You cannot do better.
Dr. Karkalas was able to make some cosmetic changes to an existing bridge that I had wanted to do for a long time. The result was great! Thank you!
Okay, Dr. Karkalas is dazzling, true. And she and Dave, when they aren't in dentist garb, look like they should be stepping out on a red carpet in front of cameras. But her knowledge base is deep and expanding as she takes on forensic dentistry and comes to testify in criminal cases around the country. If you're not a criminal prone to biting your victims, you've got nothing to fear: with ordinary people like you and me, she's focused like a laser, amiable, and terrifically skilled. She makes it all seem casual. Even other dentists, looking in my mouth at her work, expressed admiration. If you can get an appointment, you'll have no regrets.
Everything you expect, professional, courteous, down to earth/friendly, immaculately clean, knowledgeable and they take you on time. They thoroughly explain everything you need to know from a simple teeth cleaning to dental extractions. And they have a parking lot :)
I went in for a cleaning. Everyone was friendly and professional. Check in was easy and the cleaning was done well. Various questions were asked when necessary. The waiting area and exam room were neat.
I was looking forward to my first visit here, but the morning of my appointment I ran into hellacious traffic on the east side, a perfect storm of commuters, heavy work trucks, tree work trucks, school buses, a corner fender bender, oblivious people on phones, closed streets, half-closed street detours, and of course, one-way streets. I didn't want to call while driving but Laurie called me and I assured her I was trying to get there. I finally made it, very late, wondering if I could still be seen. Luckily the patient after me was delayed, so I received a gracious welcome and still had my initial exam. Dr. Karkalas answered all my questions. Seemed top-notch. I left in a much better frame of mind - something you rarely say after a dental visit.

Dr. Karkalas is a fabulous dentist. I have been a patient for over 15 years and she is truly in a class of her own. She provides a relaxed atmosphere and handles her dental instruments like an artist handles a paintbrush. She is quick, confident and extremely gifted in her field.

Dr Karkalas very quickly responded to a last minute appointment request to repair a veneer. She was able to see me the next morning. I was in and out of the office in 15 to 20 minutes, good as new! First rate dental care and customer service. Will they offer you the latest in ways to up your dental presentation? Yes. Are they the least expensive provider around? No. Do you get what you pay for? Yes. They are attentive, proactive, and pay way more attention to my mouth than I would ever think to. Dave has a great reminder system, is flexible and easy to work with about making appointments, and will work with you on paying for big ticket procedures. Dr K. and her staff are very thorough, friendly, and professional. I have moved a few times in the past ten years, and always travel back to see these guys. Lena and Dave make the dentist experience as good as one could hope it would be.

Outstanding dentist. Fantastic staff. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Karkalas for at least 5 years now and have received everything from a simple filling, crown, to a fitted nightguard. She works collaboratively with the top-notch endodontists and periodontists to devise the best treatment plan for your needs. I saw her through the height of the pandemic and was impressed with the measures they took to keep everyone safe and protected. I wouldn’t think of seeing anyone else.

Dr. Karkalas is a new dentist for me as of only three weeks ago, and I have been extremely pleased. She is obviously very experienced, competent, and personable. Dentistry is not easy for me due to past bad experiences, but I feel comfortable and at ease with Dr. Karkalas. She appropriately diagnosed my need for a molar root canal for the last tooth under a crown for a fixed bridge, and sent me to a wonderful endodontist, who performed her root canal through the crown. I returned to Dr. Karkalas two days ago to have the tooth permanently closed, and so far all is well. I need to also mention that all of Dr. Karkalas’ staff that I have met so far are also wonderful. That includes Paula, Mary, and Dave. Mary went out of her way to get me into the endodontist quickly due to my pain and infection. I highly recommend Dr. Karkalas.
I've tried a few dentist office's looking for the "perfect" one as my childhood dentist office had closed and I would definitely say this one is the most personable and friendly of all of them! It always feels like they genuinely want to understand you as a patient and are willing to talk about procedures pros and cons so you can make good decisions about your dental health. They make a "health chore" (as I like to call it) less of one. I highly recommend this dentist office!

Things have changed quite a bit since COVID-19, but Dr. Karkalas' office and staff took everything seriously, putting the health and safety of others and themselves first. They take the necessary precautions while making you feel comfortable and at ease. My family switched to this office after living in RI for a few years and we are so glad we did. I have had several crowns and cavities over the years (fun, fun) and recently broke a tooth resulting in another crown. I have never had such an easy, painless, and quick experience as I did in Dr. K's office. The crown match was impeccable. I am not a fan of going to the dentist and dread it, but from the insightful conversations with the hygienist to the kind and caring office staff and dental assistant, you are made to feel at home and welcome. I can truly say, for the first time in my life, I don't think I will mind returning for my next check-up. Thank you to everyone!

I had a great experience here. I had an old cap/crown pop off unexpectedly at work, and I called them freaking out -- having never been a patient of theirs. They saw me within the hour and got me all put back together calmly and competently. They gave me some recommendations on other services, but I didn't feel pressured at all -- I left with a packet of info to follow up on at my own pace/if I wanted to.

I did a cleaning and got a mouthguard here. Both of my experiences have been wonderful. For my cleaning, my hygienist gave me a lot of fun facts while she cleaned my teeth, keeping it from being boring. For my mouthguard, it didn't fit the first time but it was redone and gotten back to me in little time!

Quick response, excellent workWhen I had a sudden problem-- a veneer popped while I was eating lunch-- David was able to hustle me into the office and Lena was able to slip me into the schedule so that before I had to teach my class, hours after I lost the veneer, my problem was solved and I could speak before a class without looking like a horse had kicked me in the teeth. Dave at the front desk recognized my agonizing discomfort and went to extraordinary lengths to coordinate my extractions as soon as possible. Dr. Karkalas and Paula made me feel comfortable as they took new xrays and confirmed my diagnosis. Dr. Karkalas developed a solid care plan for me, and I am following it to the letter. I also took comfort in the genuine care and concern everyone showed me. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Karkalas and her practice.

I don't recommend Dr. Karkalas. I found her to always be unfriendly towards me and would leave the room at the end of a procedure without saying anything. Her bonding didn't come close to matching and in response I was scolded for not whitening. Her recommendation was to get a crown for a tooth that just needed the correct shade of bonding. She recommended a crown on another tooth that my insurance didn't agree needed it based on the xrays. The only good experience was with Kelly the dental hygienist and Paula the dental assistant.

This is my second time have Botox injections with Dr. Karkalas. She is superb! No bruising, bleeding or swelling. She is very attentive to needs of her patients and does exactly what she says she is going to do. She is extremely trustworthy and I don't feel like I am being "upsold" in any way. The women seemed to both be genuinely concerned about the pain and discomfort I was in. The cleaning was done with extra care and thoughtfulness since I was having trouble opening my mouth due to my tight jaw. We also had a few laughs, which helps the whole experience due to my complications!

Sensitive to my "pain points"The women seemed to both be genuinely concerned about the pain and discomfort I was in. The cleaning was done with extra care and thoughtfulness since I was having trouble opening my mouth due to my tight jaw. We also had a few laughs, which helps the whole experience due to my complications!

Kind and patient centered approach service. All team members including Dr. Karkalas and dental hygienist (Kelly) were knowledgeable along with empathetic attitude towards their patients.
I just went in for my consultation this morning. I knew going in that I am in need of some extensive work due to neglect of dental upkeep over many years. Everyone was so pleasant and Dr. Karkalas was so thorough in her explanations which made me feel more at ease knowing she knew her information.I'm due to give birth any week now and she chose to delay my x-rays out of care for the baby's health. What a beautiful gesture proving it's not about the $ but about the patient's care.They even gave me a printed out game plan so I know exactly what to expect. They don't take my particular health insurance and are willing to help work with my insurance company to assist where possible with reimbursement.So far, this has been a very delightful experience and I'm looking forward to my next appointment after baby comes.Thank you, Dr. Karkalas and staff!See you next year

When I had a sudden problem-- a veneer popped while I was eating lunch-- David was able to hustle me into the office and Lena was able to slip me into the schedule so that before I had to teach my class, hours after I lost the veneer, my problem was solved and I could speak before a class without looking like a horse had kicked me in the teeth. I am a longtime patient of Dr. KARKALAS. I have been so, because I have always received caring, concerned, and trusted professional service. In addition, I always feel that Dr. K is always very knowledgeable regarding the latest techniques and services in dentistry, and cosmetic dentistry and that is very important to me.
I love having friends guess which of my teeth are 'fake'--- they are always surprised because of the incredible quality of the veneers. Whether its cosmetic work, a filling, or cleaning, Dr. Karkalas and her team provide impeccable service. Once I made the mistake of eating hard crusty bread and chipped a tooth on a Saturday; Lena took my call, and met to fix the issue that day. Dave always accommodates and is a pleasure to speak with. The staff at the office were able to get me in quickly due to a chipped, ragged tooth, and Dr. Karkalas was able to treat me with a much less extensive and costly procedure than I'd been anticipating. She's the best -- talented, caring, and honest.

A crown on my molar fell off while I was eating, and I was able to contact Dr. Karkalas at her emergency number. She saw me the next working day and re-cemented the crown without any problem. It was great to have my dental issue solved so quickly and easily!
Dr. Karkalas had no issues with giving me time just to meet her. I think I found a new dentist, and will be very happy! Office is warm and welcoming, and her staff is wonderful.

I learned more about how to brush my teeth during the cleaning than I ever have before. Dr. Karkalas is friendly and is not pushy about cosmetic procedures. Everyone in the office is welcoming and organized.
So punctual which is very refreshing! Hygienist was very nice and very pleasant! Heated neck pillow, cooling eye wrap and massaging chair make for a pleasant experience, especially for a dentist!

I finally decided to get ZOOM whitening after debating for a couple years - I have sensitive teeth & was very worried about the possible pain, etc. The staff were all very considerate of my feelings and made sure I was comfortable at all times. The procedure itself turned out to be painless, and dare I say almost relaxing (!) It was the first dental clinic since we moved to Providence.The first impression of their atmosphere was calm, comfortable, and friendly.They treated us very gentle and personally. And they made an appoinment and managed that very seriously so that we did not need to wait to see a doctor. We only waited for about 5minutes discussing about our dental insurance and the process of treatment, which was niccessary.Dr. Karkalas gave me a good and professional treatmet and explained what she did for me very kindly.Furthermore, the clinic is very close to Brown University where my husband is working so we can reach there easily.
Dr Karkalas was so good with my 5 yr old son-I was so impressed!! He can be tough but she was able to keep him calm and explain what she was going to do step by step while filing a cavity. The silly terms she used really made him listen and relax a little.

When I was little, I went to another dentist and they made me scared to go. So my mom brought me to Dr. Karkalas. Today I love the dentist. (I am 9 years old.) Dave is very nice to me. He showed me how to do yo-yo tricks with the yo-yo I got from the treasure box.
Okay, love may be a bit strong here. Yet, if it is possible to enjoy a dental experience, this would be the place to do so. Plenty of TLC and professionalism. Love you guys!

It had been a while since I had been to a dentist, and I have never liked going to the dentist, so I was a little nervous. But everyone was so nice and not at all judgmental that I'd fallen behind in my dental care. I really appreciated it!

Another excellent visit. I overslept and missed my original appointment. When I called to explain, they fit me in early the following week. I should have paid a $25 dollar fee for missing my appointment, but when I asked about it the response was, "That's your freebie," followed by an awesome smile. I was grateful. The young woman in the waiting room had her little brother in tow. The front desk manager (whose name is escaping me) started asking her questions about her family, saying that she had grown so much. "I'm in college now," the woman boasted. The front desk manager got up, grabbed a teddy bear and gave it to the boy. I smiled at the thought that families have been going to that dentist's office for a long time. I'm a relatively new patient. Every member of the team greeted me with a smile and a question about my morning or about my work. I felt extremely comfortable getting in the chair- something that caused me tremendous anxiety at every other dentist's office before Dr. Karkalas's office. The only suggestion I would make is to add the names of the office manager, assistants and dental hygienists either on the Google contact or Facebook. I would have liked to refer to them by name in this review, but I had no luck finding their names.

My son had two of his front teeth replaced by Dr. Karkalas after an accident a little over a year ago. Yesterday, one of the new teeth was broken during a wrestling match. I called the emergency line, and Dr. Karkalas and her technician came in on their day off to fix the problem. Her level of expertise is amazing. Her commitment to customer service is impeccable. This rare combination earns my highest recommendation. You cannot do better.
Dr. Karkalas was able to make some cosmetic changes to an existing bridge that I had wanted to do for a long time. The result was great! Thank you!
Okay, Dr. Karkalas is dazzling, true. And she and Dave, when they aren't in dentist garb, look like they should be stepping out on a red carpet in front of cameras. But her knowledge base is deep and expanding as she takes on forensic dentistry and comes to testify in criminal cases around the country. If you're not a criminal prone to biting your victims, you've got nothing to fear: with ordinary people like you and me, she's focused like a laser, amiable, and terrifically skilled. She makes it all seem casual. Even other dentists, looking in my mouth at her work, expressed admiration. If you can get an appointment, you'll have no regrets.
Everything you expect, professional, courteous, down to earth/friendly, immaculately clean, knowledgeable and they take you on time. They thoroughly explain everything you need to know from a simple teeth cleaning to dental extractions. And they have a parking lot :)
I went in for a cleaning. Everyone was friendly and professional. Check in was easy and the cleaning was done well. Various questions were asked when necessary. The waiting area and exam room were neat.
I was looking forward to my first visit here, but the morning of my appointment I ran into hellacious traffic on the east side, a perfect storm of commuters, heavy work trucks, tree work trucks, school buses, a corner fender bender, oblivious people on phones, closed streets, half-closed street detours, and of course, one-way streets. I didn't want to call while driving but Laurie called me and I assured her I was trying to get there. I finally made it, very late, wondering if I could still be seen. Luckily the patient after me was delayed, so I received a gracious welcome and still had my initial exam. Dr. Karkalas answered all my questions. Seemed top-notch. I left in a much better frame of mind - something you rarely say after a dental visit.

Dr. Karkalas is a fabulous dentist. I have been a patient for over 15 years and she is truly in a class of her own. She provides a relaxed atmosphere and handles her dental instruments like an artist handles a paintbrush. She is quick, confident and extremely gifted in her field.
The practice has a very warm and welcoming feeling from the minute you walk in. Thorough and professional. They really pay attention to the patients needs and any health problems past and future.

I have found this dentist to be very proficient. She knows her craft well and works with ease. She explains procedures well and informs along the way. I recently had 2 old fillings redone. Dr Karkalas very quickly responded to a last minute appointment request to repair a veneer. She was able to see me the next morning. I was in and out of the office in 15 to 20 minutes, good as new! Dr Karkalas and her staff are always professional, personable and efficient. The best dentist I've ever had!

First rate dental care and customer service. Will they offer you the latest in ways to up your dental presentation? Yes. Are they the least expensive provider around? No. Do you get what you pay for? Yes. They are attentive, proactive, and pay way more attention to my mouth than I would ever think to. Dave has a great reminder system, is flexible and easy to work with about making appointments, and will work with you on paying for big ticket procedures. Dr K. and her staff are very thorough, friendly, and professional. I have moved a few times in the past ten years, and always travel back to see these guys. Lena and Dave make the dentist experience as good as one could hope it would be.
